Remembering Steve San Filippo

Steve San Filippo was a remarkable leader whose commitment to clients, employees, and the community is still felt today.

We lost Steve’s big heart, humor, and guidance in 2018.

Like so many of the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs he worked hard to serve, Steve set aside space in his home and, together with cofounder Jerry Krause, brought to life a new firm that has grown to serve communities and clients across the U.S.

More important than our commercial success is the time we devote to serving our communities. Steve set an example through his extensive volunteerism. He served as Planning Commissioner for his adopted hometown of San Carlos. Steve worked with many youth organizations and volunteered on boards for Serra High School San Mateo, the Sequoia Hospital Board in Redwood City, and many others.

Steve’s legacy lives on in the community through the Sequoia Hospital Foundation and our annual sponsorship of the foundation’s Steven San Filippo Memorial Invitational golf tournament. The event supports the foundation’s work in promoting community health equity, women’s health, nursing scholarships, and other vital initiatives.

Throughout his career, Steve served as a friend and mentor to his colleagues. Steve was instrumental in developing and promoting our firm values, including service to others, our commitment to integrity, stewardship of the environment, and kindness. A natural evolution of his continued influence is our commitment to sustainability and becoming a B Corp, which reflects the example he set and the values he shared.

Every year we’re proud to recognize an employee who embodies these values with the Steve San Filippo Leadership Award. This honor reflects Steve’s many contributions to Sensiba, and his lasting legacy to our firm, our clients, and our community.
